Mission Project STEP (String Training and Educational Program for Students of Color) prepares highly talented students of color for careers in the classical music profession. The program identifies, trains, educates and guides students for careers as classical music soloists, teachers, chamber music performers and orchestra members.

What it does Primary initiative trains talented children of color ages 6-18 as violinists, violists, cellists and bassists. Another program augments and enriches the music education program in the Boston Public and Catholic schools for approximately 80 kindergarten students each year, and identifies promising young students of color and encourages them to begin music lessons at an early age.
